Our new greenhouse is planted and the harvest is ongoing!
We are very excited to show photos from our new greenhouse, Killa Muyu, which recently opened at the shelter, in a secure location outside of Cuenca. The project was funded by private donors Rotary Club Cupertino, USA and Rotary Club Tomebamba in Cuenca. The greenhouse is currently producing an abundance of healthy foods such as cabbage, lettuce, peppers, broccoli, and other vegetables.
The objective is to use the greenhouse as part of an alternative therapy plan where women can plant, grow and harvest the vegetables on their own. Additionally, the women are able to use the vegetables they grow in their catering business, as they did recently at one of the fundraisers. The production of vegetables in the greenhouse provides a magnitude of benefits for the women from alternative therapy, to healthy eating, all the way to their business!
